At the World Leaders Foundation, we understand that every leader brings a wealth of knowledge, personal experience, and unique insights to the table. To celebrate this diversity and encourage the exchange of ideas, we are excited to introduce a new segment in our monthly newsletter: “Leadership Lens: Fact of the Month”
What is “Leadership Lens”?
This segment will feature quick, fun, and thought-provoking facts shared by our leaders from around the world. These facts could relate to their field of expertise, cultural traditions, interesting historical events, or anything that sparks curiosity and inspires new ways of thinking.
Why Introduce “Leadership Lens”?
1. Promote Global Learning: A simple fact shared by one leader could ignite curiosity and understanding in others, fostering a truly global perspective.
2. Celebrate Diversity: By sharing unique knowledge, we highlight the richness of experiences within WLF, strengthening the bonds between our leaders.
3. Inspire Change: A single, impactful fact can inspire innovation, reflection, and action across our global community.
How It Works
– Every month, WLF leaders will contribute a fact that reflects their expertise, region, or personal passions.
– The most unique and inspiring facts will be featured in our newsletter and on our social media platforms.
– Leaders can also include visuals, such as photos or infographics, to make their facts more engaging and informative.

WLF at the First National and International Congress for the Elimination of Violence Against Women by UNAM
One of the most significant milestones for WLF this November was our participation as a key collaborator in the First National and International Congress for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). This prestigious event brought together world-renowned thought leaders, activists, and policymakers committed to ending violence against women and girls.
Our Founder-Chairperson, Ms. Moumita Chakraborty, shared the stage with other distinguished speakers, including Dr. Monica Rocha Herrera, WLF’s Country Director of Human Rights, Mexico, and Ms. Tabitha Ngozi, WLF’s Country Director of Nigeria, Directorate of Entrepreneurship. They were joined by 15 other eminent women from across the globe, each offering valuable insights on how to create a world free from violence. The Congress fostered a sense of solidarity, reminding us that only through concerted, global action can we break the chains of gender-based violence.

As part of our ongoing commitment to develop and support visionary leaders, WLF launched its Leadership Launchpad initiative this November. The inaugural Video Message (VM 1), presented by Dr. Monica Rocha Herrera, Country Director of Mexico, Directorate of Human Rights, provided invaluable leadership insights and strategic frameworks for social change.
The second video message, VM 2, was led by Ms. Queen Mercy Ndubuisi, Country Director of Nigeria, Directorate of Domestic Welfare and Abuse Prevention. The module centered on the importance of community-based approaches to tackling domestic violence and abuse, providing actionable steps for leaders to implement on the ground. The response from participants has been overwhelming, with leaders expressing how the modules are equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to create lasting change in their regions.
Global Observances in November 2024
November has been a month rich in meaningful observances, many of which align with the values WLF champions. These days served not only to raise awareness but also to inspire collective action and promote a brighter, more equitable future for all.
International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25)
As we mark this important day, we continue to emphasize our commitment to ending violence against women and girls. WLF’s active participation in the UNAM Congress earlier this month is just one example of how we are amplifying this cause, working alongside local communities and international organizations to bring about meaningful change. The fight for gender equality is far from over, but together, we are making powerful strides.
Universal Children’s Day (November 20)
On this day, we celebrated the rights and well-being of children everywhere. WLF is dedicated to creating a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive—free from hunger, violence, and exploitation. We believe in providing children with access to education, healthcare, and protection so that they can reach their full potential and become the leaders of tomorrow.
World Kindness Day (November 13)
In honor of World Kindness Day, we reflected on the profound impact of small acts of kindness and compassion. This day is a reminder that each of us holds the power to create positive change in our communities. Whether through volunteering, supporting a cause, or simply lending a helping hand to those in need, kindness is a universal language that can unite us all. WLF remains committed to fostering kindness and empathy through our leadership initiatives.
International Day of Tolerance (November 16)
On this day, we reaffirmed the importance of embracing diversity, promoting dialogue, and fostering understanding. WLF believes that tolerance is the foundation of a peaceful, just, and inclusive society. As we work across borders, cultures, and backgrounds, we strive to build bridges and break down the barriers that divide us. Our collective strength lies in our ability to celebrate our differences and work together toward a common future.

Growing Entrepreneurship in Africa
An Article by our Country Director of Nigeria, Directorate of Entrepreneurship
Ms. Tabitha Ngozi in her article shared with WLF conveyed:
Unlocking Potential
Africa is a land of huge potential and big challenges. With a young and growing population, rapid urbanization, and a culture of innovation, it’s a great place for new businesses to thrive. But to succeed, entrepreneurs need to know both the opportunities and the obstacles they will face.
What Drives Growth
– Young People and Cities: Africa’s young population and growing cities create a big market for new goods, services, and technology. Entrepreneurs are finding creative ways to meet these needs.
– Support from Governments and Partners: African governments and international partners are helping by offering financial incentives, easier regulations, and support hubs. This helps businesses grow and succeed.
– Tech and Innovation: Digital tools and mobile technology are changing the game in areas like finance, agriculture, and e-commerce. Entrepreneurs are coming up with solutions that can scale globally.
Challenges Ahead
While there are many opportunities, entrepreneurs also face challenges:
– Weak Infrastructure : Unreliable power and poor transportation make it hard and expensive to operate.
– Lack of Funding: Getting startup capital is a big hurdle for many.
– Complex Regulations : Bureaucracy and changing policies can discourage new businesses.
– Cultural Barriers : Issues like gender inequality and lack of entrepreneurial education often exclude women and other marginalized groups.
How to Grow Sustainably
To unlock Africa’s potential, we need a well-rounded approach:
1. Better Policies : Make it easier to start and run a business with simpler regulations.
2. Access to Finance: Offer more microfinance and government-backed loans to help startups.
3. Education Reform : Focus on practical skills and encourage partnerships between schools and industries.
4. Support for Women : Provide mentorship, financial help, and networking opportunities specifically for women entrepreneurs.
5. Infrastructure Improvements : Invest in better power and transport to reduce costs and boost efficiency.
Looking Forward
Entrepreneurship in Africa can drive not just economic growth but also social fairness and resilience. By working together to tackle challenges, we can unlock the full potential of Africa’s entrepreneurs. With better education, inclusivity, and innovation, the future looks bright for the continent’s new business leaders.
